What goes on a UK builder quote or invoice
Your trading name and address at the top, the customer and the site address underneath, a unique number, the date, then a line for every part of the job with a quantity and a rate. Under the lines: subtotal, 20% VAT if you are registered, and the amount due.
The requirements are set out on GOV.UK. QuoteCo prints the paperwork — we are not your accountant and this is not tax advice.
Quote the job, invoice it when you're done
Big builds move. Quote the work on site with its own EST number and an expiry date so a three month old price does not come back at you, then add lines for variations as the job changes.
When the last skip has gone, press Raise invoice. Every line copies into a fresh invoice with its own INV number, payment terms and your bank details, and the estimate stays on file next to it.
CIS on building work
Working for a contractor, mark each line as labour or materials. The CIS deduction — 20% if you are registered, 30% if you are not — is worked out on the labour only, never on the materials you have bought in. The sheet prints gross labour, materials, the deduction and the net amount due, with your UTR if you have added it.
The scheme is explained on GOV.UK. Confirm the figures with your contractor and your accountant.

FAQ
What must a UK builder invoice include?
Your trading name and address, the customer's name and address, a unique invoice number, the date, a line for each part of the job with quantity and rate, the subtotal, 20% VAT if you are registered, and the amount due. GOV.UK lists the requirements under invoices and what they must include.
Can I quote a job now and invoice it when the build is finished?
Yes. Price the work on site as an estimate with its own EST number, then press Raise invoice when the job is signed off. The lines copy into a fresh invoice with its own INV number and due date, and the estimate stays on file.
Does it handle CIS on building work?
Yes, for reference. Tag each line as labour or materials, then switch CIS on and pick 20% for a registered subcontractor or 30% for unregistered. The deduction applies to the labour only and the sheet shows gross labour, materials, the deduction and the net due. Confirm figures with your contractor and accountant.
Does it add 20% VAT to a builder quote?
Yes. Turn VAT on and 20% is added to the subtotal as its own line so the customer sees net, VAT and gross before the work starts. Leave it off if you are not VAT registered.
Do I need an account, and do you take a cut of the payment?
No to both. Open the builder, price the job and print or save a PDF with no sign-up. Your customer pays you directly through your own bank details or pay link — QuoteCo never takes, holds or processes their money.
